I’m Anthiya Adams, a Gen X Indigenous journalism student and storyteller who believes in shining light on overlooked communities and issues.
I returned to school later in life to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a skilled writer, and graduated summa cum laude with an associates degree in journalism from Pikes Peak State College; proof that some callings wait for the right moment to bloom.
As I continue to hone my craft as a journalism and media communications major at Colorado State University, I am committed to focusing on the people and issues that shape our communities but don’t always make headlines: LGBTQ youth, interfaith understanding, marginalized voices, and the everyday moments that build belonging. I volunteer with community and youth services organizations because storytelling and service go hand in hand.
My work, writing, photojournalism, video, and design, create space for deeper understanding, compassion, and empathy. I document where community takes root, where identity and culture is honored, and where what once faded blooms again.
I’m here to tell the stories that need to be told with care, integrity, and hope.
